Dumbarton is easily reachable by road. It is served by the A82 which runs from Glasgow to Inverness via Balloch and Fort William. Dumbarton is only around 30 minutes from Glasgow City Centre by car.

ScotRail services have direct routes to and from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Helensburgh on a regular basis, and even up to Oban and Fort William on the scenic West Highland Line. Each ScotRail train will stop at each station in Dumbarton, so you won't need to worry about getting to the right station.

The town is also fortunate to be on the Highland Caledonian Sleeper line, providing a direct route to London Euston.

Dumbarton is a part of the National Route 7 cycle network which runs from Sunderland, England up to Inverness, Scotland. The full route is 540 miles long and passes through stunning areas of beauty before reaching its end points.

You are able to, you can walk, wheel and cycle on this route which can get you from Glasgow to Dumbarton on mostly segregated paths.
