Prepare for an emergency

It's useful to prepare for a range of emergency scenarios that include staying at home for an extended period of time or evacuation from your home.

You might want to consider preparing an emergency kit. This could include essential items to help keep you safe.

Loss of electricity, gas or water 

Loss of utilities can happen at any time.

Loss of power

If you suffer a power cut, you should contact your network provider. 

You can contact your network provider by calling 105.

If you smell gas

If you smell gas or have a gas emergency, you should call the National Gas Emergency service.
 
You can contact the National Gas Emergency service by calling 0800 111 999.

Loss of water

If your water stops working, you should contact Scottish Water.

You can contact Scottish Water and report a problem with your water supply on the Scottish Water website.

Severe weather and flooding is becoming more common. You should make sure you know what to do.
