Bus

First Bus

First Bus operate a few buses both within Dumbarton and to connecting areas, making it easy to get around just with the one operator.

McColls Buses

Buses operated by McColls can take you around Dumbarton and up the Vale of Leven to Balloch.

Vale of Leven Hospital Bus

The bus that runs through Dumbarton toward the Vale of Leven Hospital is run by McColls Buses. This is the route 340.

Train

Dumbarton is helpfully served by 3 train stations: Dumbarton Central, Dumbarton East and Dalreoch. These are located in the centre, east and west of the town respectively.

All stations sit on the same train lines. This means that each train passing through Dumbarton will always stop at each station. The lines go to Balloch, Oban and Helensburgh in the west and towards Glasgow, Airdrie and Edinburgh in the east.

Park and Ride

Each station in Dumbarton also benefits from a nearby dedicated Park and Ride service provided by West Dunbartonshire Council.

The dedicated locations are: Dalreoch station, Dumbarton East station, Church Court and Strathleven Place.

Caledonian Sleeper

Travellers in Dumbarton can benefit from the town's connection to the Highland Sleeper line. This allows users to travel all the way down to London Euston - with many stops in between.

Cycling

Dumbarton is a part of the National Route 7 cycle network which runs from Sunderland, England up to Inverness, Scotland.

 

The full route is 540 miles long and passes through stunning areas of beauty before reaching its end points.

Parking

West Dunbartonshire Council operate a number of parking locations within Dumbarton. The council has a free parking policy. This means you don't have to pay to park in public car parks.
