Local residents often know what's best for their communities.

One way to get involved in making your local community better is by joining your community council. You can help shape the decisions that matter.

What are community councils

Community councils are voluntary groups that act as a local voice for their area. They represent the people who live there and play an important role in local democracy.

They might also help with events and activities tin the local area, bringing people together.

Find your local community council

If you're not sure which community council area you live in, you should find out.

You can check your local community council using the search on the Community Councils website.

If you don't have a local community council

You might live in an area without an active local community council. There's a list of active community councils on the West Dunbartonshire Council website.

If your local community council is inactive, you might be able to get it going again. There's information on how to set up a community council on the West Dunbartonshire Council website.
